This winter, a brand new track between Noyelles and Le Crotoy

Monday 6th November will witness the start of the largest operation ever undertaken on the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme: the complete rebuild of the 6.5km (4 miles) long stretch between Noyelles and Le Crotoy, of which 1600 meters (one mile) will be re-laid on concrete sleepers. More than 300 people enjoyed local produce brought together by chefs from restaurants in the Somme Bay area.
Customers could eat out of doors or on-board carriages provided by the CFBS.
This event, organized by the "Zero Carbon" association, provided an opportunity to exchange with chefs, farmers, producers and tourism professionals, all aware of the need for sustainable tourism.

The European Heritage Days

This year, the CFBS worked doubly hard to provide a festive atmosphere over the two days.

They were marked by the official handing over of a cheque from the Crédit Agricole Foundation to assist in restoring the Scarpe steam locomotive that used to shunt the sugar beet processing plant at Lanchères, as well as by the presence of a 71/4 inch gauge live steam railway and a snack stall.

A sprightly centenarian

Restoration work on Buffaud & Robatel locomotive N° 3714, listed as a Technical Heritage item, has just been completed. After two and a half years of work, the engine has returned to active duty on the railway!

A carriage for the disabled

For the past couple of years, the CFBS has been planning to put into a service a carriage able to accommodate disabled passengers.
After having studied how to proceed, our "carriage & wagon" team has just finished fitting an elevator onto carriage BD 201. It will be put into service on 8th July.

The CFBS continues to rebuild its historic carriages

The CFBS continues its programme of rebuilding historic carriages. Since 1971, the association has managed to preserve one of the largest collections of wooden-bodied passenger carriages in France.

When rescued, many of them were in derelict condition and had to be completely rebuilt.
